Album Notes & Community Reviews
Recorded at age 79 during the height of the folk revival, the legendary banjoist and blues pioneer revisits his classic 1920s repertoire. Driven by the massive commercial success of younger groups covering his titular composition, the session offers a vital, remarkably spirited glimpse into pre-war American string band traditions. The recording bridged a massive generational gap in American roots music.
