Album Notes & Community Reviews

Steven R. Smith's musical vehicle Hala Strana deeply explored Eastern European musical traditions through a droning, psychedelic lens on 'Heave the Gambrel Roof'. The entirely instrumental work utilizes heavy bowing, acoustic instrumentation, and repetitive structures to evoke a powerful sense of ancient rural mysticism.
