Wildflower

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Produced by Creed Taylor, the veteran alto saxophonist's Kudu Records release is a quintessential, highly polished example of crossover jazz-funk. Arranged by Bob James and backed by an all-star studio ensemble, Crawford's blues-drenched, incredibly emotive saxophone tone cuts through lush string orchestrations and deep, syncopated rhythm tracks. The album perfectly captures the sophisticated, cinematic soul-jazz aesthetic that defined the era's premium instrumental R&B.
