With 'Rust', Harm's Way fully embraced the industrial and groove metal influences that had been simmering in their sound, creating their most ambitious and diverse work up to that point. The album balances bone-crushing hardcore intensity with slower, more atmospheric passages and unsettling electronic textures. Its thematic focus on societal decay and disillusionment is perfectly matched by the cold, mechanical precision of the music.
