Album Notes & Community Reviews

Guided by the production genius of Gamble and Huff, the group's second album is a quintessential masterclass in sophisticated Philadelphia soul. Teddy Pendergrass's incredibly raw, impassioned lead vocals are perfectly contrasted by sweeping, elegant string arrangements and the driving, proto-disco rhythm of the massive hit single 'The Love I Lost'. The record permanently solidified their status as titans of 1970s orchestrated R&B.
