"Mark Twain" and Other Folk Favorites

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Released prior to his massive explosion as a calypso superstar, this early album finds the charismatic vocalist interpreting a diverse range of traditional folk material. The spare, acoustic arrangements allow his rich, dramatic baritone and theatrical delivery to command center stage. It serves as an important precursor to the urban folk revival that would dominate the late 1950s and 1960s.
