Liquorice

Album Notes & Community Reviews

On 'Liquorice', Hatchie pivots from the lush shoegaze of her earlier work into darker, post-punk-inspired territory, blending propulsive, angular basslines and crisp drumming with her signature ethereal vocals and shimmering guitar textures. The album's production, helmed by Jorge Elbrecht, maintains a polished feel while creating a denser, more immediate soundscape that foregrounds the newfound urgency in Harriette Pilbeam's songwriting. Thematically, the record explores introspection and romantic longing through a more cynical and world-weary lens, trading wistful nostalgia for a sharp, melancholic bite.
