Album Notes & Community Reviews

Showcasing her famously breathy, highly intimate vocal timbre, the singer is beautifully framed by the incredibly lush, sweeping string orchestrations of arranger Gil Evans. Her sophisticated, deeply melancholic phrasing transforms familiar standards into profound, late-night torch songs. The immaculate production cemented her status as one of the premier, most emotionally resonant vocal interpreters of the hi-fi era.
