The pair traveled into Norway's valleys to record rural fiddle traditions in the field, documenting regional styles whose scales reach back to Old Norwegian practice. On the saga song 'Dei Frealause Menn', Lindley accompanies on the Turkish saz, in what he called the only successful meeting of that song with another instrument.
