Album Notes & Community Reviews
Recorded in Brooklyn in December 2014 and produced by guitarist Liberty Ellman, Threadgill's two-disc suite builds six concerto-like movements around each member of Zooid in turn. It won the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Music, making Threadgill only the third jazz artist so honored, after Wynton Marsalis and Ornette Coleman.
