Album Notes & Community Reviews

Though Górecki composed this emotionally devastating Holocaust-themed symphony in 1976, its 1990s recordings triggered a massive, unprecedented commercial explosion for contemporary classical music. Characterized by its incredibly slow, soaring modal arcs and sorrowful soprano solos, it stands as a towering achievement of the holy minimalism movement.
