Album Notes & Community Reviews

Karajan's Berlin recording of Strauss's tone poem after Nietzsche is a central document of his Strauss discography, with concertmaster Michel Schwalb茅 spinning the waltz's solo violin line. Its massive, bombastic orchestral architecture stands in direct relation to his earlier Vienna account, the recording Kubrick carried into '2001: A Space Odyssey'.
