Album Notes & Community Reviews
Flautist Herbie Mann was one of the earliest and most enthusiastic American adopters of Brazilian rhythms, and this album serves as a crucial document of that cross-cultural fusion. 'Brazil, Bossa Nova and Blues' successfully merges the delicate, syncopated sway of Bossa Nova with the heavier, groove-oriented structures of American soul jazz. It was highly influential in introducing the style to mainstream jazz audiences prior to the 'Getz/Gilberto' explosion.
