Following his departure from the highly influential Neue Deutsche Welle group Palais Schaumburg, the visionary German artist delivered this incredibly bizarre and pioneering solo debut. 'Ein Bündel Fäulnis in der Grube' heavily utilizes early, primitive digital samplers to construct deeply disjointed, mechanized pop songs out of chaotic vocal fragments, breaking glass, and manipulated classical orchestrations. The profoundly surreal, highly rhythmic album anticipated the explosion of plunderphonics and sample-based electronic music.
