Platform
by Holly Herndon
'Platform' merges avant-garde electronic composition with fractured pop sensibilities, using a laptop to process vocals and sampled audio from her internet browsing into complex, glitching sound collages. The album explores themes of digital life, systemic inequality, and surveillance, and is historically notable for being the first commercial record to feature a track, "Lonely at the Top", explicitly designed to induce an Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR).
