Album Notes & Community Reviews
The Philadelphia quartet significantly broadens their sound on their third studio album, moving away from their early emo-adjacent angst toward incredibly rich, dynamic indie rock. Frontwoman Frances Quinlan's distinctively raspy, immensely powerful vocals sit atop complex acoustic instrumentation involving strings, mandolins, and synthesizers. The record was heavily praised for its structural ambition and highly literate, deeply empathetic lyricism.
