Album Notes & Community Reviews

Featuring the commanding frontline of Stanley Turrentine and Tommy Turrentine, 'On the Spur of the Moment' captures pianist Horace Parlan leading a deeply soulful hard bop quintet. The session is characterized by heavy, blues-inflected swinging and the uniquely percussive, chordal piano style necessitated by Parlan's physical limitations.
