Following the acrimonious implosion of The Stone Roses, the iconic frontman launched his solo career with this lo-fi, deeply personal effort. Heavily utilizing drum machines, cryptic lyricism, and hazy, dub-inflected neo-psychedelia, the self-produced record successfully distanced Brown from the baggage of his former band's legacy.
