Joy as an Act of Resistance.

Album Notes & Community Reviews

On 'Joy as an Act of Resistance', IDLES channels ferocious, angular post-punk to address themes of toxic masculinity, grief, immigration, and class inequality with stark vulnerability. Led by Joe Talbot’s cathartic lyrics drawn from personal trauma and social observation, the band’s performance combines raw instrumentation with an affirming message of community and love. The production, helmed by SPACE, captures this duality, balancing the aggressive, cathartic rage of the music with its profound lyrical honesty and calls for unity.
