Album Notes & Community Reviews

Conducted by the composer himself, this recording presents his austere, monumental adaptation of the ancient Greek tragedy. 'Oedipus Rex' employs strict neoclassical structures, massive choral forces, and a spoken narration by Jean Cocteau to achieve an imposing, statuesque dramatic effect. The performance stands as an incredibly authoritative interpretation of Stravinsky's mid-career aesthetic.
