Album Notes & Community Reviews

Attempting to broaden their commercial appeal beyond the Chitlin' Circuit, the fierce duo incorporates smoother backing vocals and slightly more refined brass arrangements. Despite the polished studio aesthetics, the lead vocal performances remain intensely raw, raspy, and deeply rooted in Southern church testifying. The album showcases a dynamic tension between the bandleader's crossover ambitions and the singer's untamable energy.
