Album Notes & Community Reviews

Famous for his raucous, honking rhythm and blues solos, the legendary tenor saxophonist reins in his aggressive energy for a remarkably smooth, highly refined session. Backed by an all-star ensemble and lush arrangements, his immense, vibrato-heavy tone is applied expertly to romantic ballads and relaxed swingers. The album reveals a deep, sophisticated musicality often overshadowed by his earlier, extroverted showmanship.
