Close to a World Below

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Widely regarded as a landmark in dissonant death metal, 'Close to a World Below' is built upon intricate song structures, the angular and technical guitar work of Robert Vigna and Thomas Wilkinson, and the complex, blasting percussion of drummer Alex Hernandez. Ross Dolan’s deep, commanding vocals deliver scathing anti-religious themes, while the production by Paul Orofino and the band provides a powerful clarity that allows each layer of the dense, chaotic instrumentation to remain distinct. The album stands as a definitive statement of the band's sound, balancing labyrinthine musicality with overwhelming brutality.
