Album Notes & Community Reviews

Marking a significant departure from the sweeping, violin-led psychedelia of their early masterworks, the San Francisco ensemble embraced a highly accessible, streamlined pop-rock sound on their fourth studio album. Featuring a largely revamped lineup, the record emphasizes straightforward songwriting, country-rock flourishes, and bright vocal harmonies. The stylistic pivot proved polarizing to long-time fans and signaled the twilight of the band's classic era.
