The Hawaiian surfer and filmmaker's debut album inadvertently launched a massive acoustic pop movement in the early 2000s. Stripped down to mostly acoustic guitars, bass, and subdued percussion, its gentle, beach-side melodies and relaxing vocal delivery gained enormous grassroots popularity.
