Album Notes & Community Reviews
Helping to establish the Hammond B-3 organ as a dominant force in 1960s jazz, this leadership debut trades complex harmonic abstraction for deep, foot-tapping pocket grooves. Accompanied by Jimmy Forrest on tenor saxophone, the organist lays down a thick, blues-drenched foundation that defines the working-class soul-jazz aesthetic.
