Robespierre's Velvet Basement

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Crafted as a sprawling double LP, this magnum opus by the duo of Nikki Sudden and Dave Kusworth blends decadent romanticism with ramshackle, acoustic-driven indie pop. 'Robespierre's Velvet Basement' features lush, melancholic string arrangements and a distinctly poetic lyrical approach, drawing heavily from both literary history and 1970s glam aesthetics. The record became a defining, albeit highly underground, treasure of the mid-80s British guitar pop landscape.
