Album Notes & Community Reviews
Known as a walking encyclopedia of jazz piano, Jaki Byard demonstrates his incredibly eclectic mastery on 'Out Front!'. Accompanied by heavyweights like Booker Ervin and Richard Davis, Byard seamlessly pivots from stride and ragtime flourishes into dense, dissonant avant-garde post-bop within the span of a single solo. It is a wildly playful, deeply swinging celebration of jazz history from a severely underrated innovator.
