Album Notes & Community Reviews

Propelled by its legendary title track, 'James Brown Sings Out of Sight' captures the exact evolutionary pivot where his gritty rhythm and blues began transforming into the heavily syncopated foundations of funk. While the album is padded with several standard pop and R&B covers typical of his mid-60s LP releases, the instrumental arrangements signal a major shift toward the rhythmic, 'on the one' focus that would revolutionize Black music.
