Skid Row
by James Ferraro
A harrowing, conceptual examination of extreme poverty, hyper-capitalism, and violence in modern Los Angeles. The prolific experimental musician relies heavily on cheap synth tones, distorted auto-tuned vocals, and chaotic news broadcast samples to simulate an aggressive, dystopian cruise through the titular neighborhood. The overwhelming, surreal soundscape functions as a stark critique of contemporary Californian mythology.
