Album Notes & Community Reviews
The Chicago singer-songwriter and poet structures her sophomore album around specific cultural icons of color, with tracks named after figures like Sun Ra, Zora Neale Hurston, and Jean-Michel Basquiat. The music blends incredibly warm, progressive neo-soul with sharp, politically conscious lyricism regarding systemic racism and Black excellence. It acts as a brilliant, deeply empowering homage to the artistic ancestors who paved her way.
