Following the departure of founding bassist Stuart Zender midway through the recording sessions, the British ensemble pivoted toward a sleeker, heavily disco-oriented sound. The incredibly tight grooves and electronic textures maintained their massive international dancefloor appeal while subtly incorporating introspective lyrical themes.
