Album Notes & Community Reviews

The virtuosic guitarist from the Dutch progressive group Focus steps away from standard rock formats to deliver a highly unique album dominated by lute and classical acoustic guitar. Interspersed between authentic performances of 16th-century John Dowland pieces are sprawling, rhythmically complex progressive rock excursions featuring the elite American rhythm section of Tim Bogert and Carmine Appice. The release stands as a fascinating, technically flawless synthesis of early classical music and high-voltage 70s rock fusion.
