Canadian songwriter Jane Siberry pushed the structural boundaries of art pop with this highly complex, narratively dense record. 'The Walking' stretches its ethereal, jazz-inflected arrangements into sprawling, progressive suites that highlight her abstract, stream-of-consciousness lyricism. It is a distinctly lush and challenging work that rewards deep listening with its surreal, uplifting atmosphere.
