Album Notes & Community Reviews

The first release on their own custom Grunt label marks a significant transitional period for the San Francisco psychedelic pioneers. Recorded following the departure of founder Marty Balin, the album leans heavily into the divergent musical interests of the remaining members, featuring the country-blues picking of Jorma Kaukonen alongside Paul Kantner's eccentric rockers. It reflects the increasingly splintered, experimental nature of the band prior to their dissolution.
