Album Notes & Community Reviews
Recorded in 1964 during a commercial lull in his career, 'Live at the Star-Club, Hamburg' is widely considered one of the most ferocious and essential live rock and roll albums ever made. Backed by the Nashville Teens, Jerry Lee Lewis delivers a famously unhinged performance, attacking the piano and his classic songs with a raw, convulsive energy. The intentionally unpolished production, with its loud and occasionally distorted piano-centric mix, captures a brutally honest and primal sound that has become a benchmark for live recordings.
