Qalaq
by Jerusalem In My Heart
A deeply political and collaborative album, 'Qalaq' (an Arabic word for deep worry) is Radwan Ghazi Moumneh's response to the 2020 Beirut port explosion and the ongoing turmoil in his homeland. The record is a powerful and often dissonant work of avant-folk, blending traditional Arabic instrumentation and vocals with harsh electroacoustic textures. It features an incredible array of guest artists from the experimental underground, including Moor Mother, Tim Hecker, and Lucrecia Dalt.
