Originally conceived as a theatrical stage play, Ian Anderson steered Jethro Tull into a highly conceptual, surprisingly stripped-down narrative concerning an aging biker named Ray Lomas. The album is a wonderfully sarcastic, deeply satirical rock opera, utilizing highly melodic, beautifully bittersweet storytelling to critique changing musical trends with a profound sense of urban pessimism.
