Album Notes & Community Reviews
'Souled Out' expands upon the ethereal, ambient-leaning soundscapes of Aiko's breakthrough mixtape, establishing a distinctly atmospheric approach to contemporary R&B. The record employs muted percussion and floating synthesizer beds to complement her whisper-soft, highly introspective vocal deliveries. The highly anticipated major-label debut resonated strongly with audiences, shaping the dominant mood of 2010s alternative R&B.
