Album Notes & Community Reviews
On his fourth studio album 'God Does Like Ugly', JID builds upon his southern hip-hop and trap foundation with stylistically varied production from collaborators like Christo and Thundercat, demonstrating his characteristically energetic and quick-flowing vocal delivery. Thematically, the album鈥攊ts title inspired by a phrase from his late grandmother鈥攄elves into the Christian traditions of the American South, explores concepts of karma, and culminates in the personal revelation of his fatherhood. While some critics noted the project was less sonically unified than its predecessor, 'The Forever Story', its ambitious scope incorporates a wide range of sounds from Miami bass to Spanish-language verses.
