Heavily inspired by Lynd Ward's 1929 wordless woodcut novel 'Gods' Man', the My Morning Jacket frontman's solo debut is a heavily textured exploration of existential and spiritual themes. Primarily self-produced and engineered, the record leans into vintage R&B grooves, warm analog synthesizers, and swirling psychedelic arrangements that depart from his band's guitar-heavy roots.
