Album Notes & Community Reviews
Capitalizing on the massive soul crossover zeitgeist of 1967, organ maestro Jimmy Smith delivers an infectious, groove-laden set featuring a roaring big band arranged by Oliver Nelson. Reinterpreting contemporary soul anthems alongside jazz standards, Smith applies his signature Hammond B-3 pyrotechnics to driving, danceable charts. The record stands as a premier example of commercial soul-jazz orchestration.
