Album Notes & Community Reviews

Collaborating with composer Peter Schickele, 'Joan' marked a significant stylistic departure for Joan Baez, augmenting her acoustic folk with lavish orchestral arrangements. Featuring compositions by Paul Simon, Richard Fari帽a, and Donovan, the album highlighted her pristine soprano in a refined, chamber-pop context. The orchestrated approach successfully broadened her musical palette while maintaining her lyrical poignancy.
