Album Notes & Community Reviews
Recorded significantly before the massive international explosion of bossa nova, the highly innovative pianist and accordionist delivers an incredibly vital, heavily syncopated instrumental dance record. Integrating the sophisticated harmonic concepts of American cool jazz with traditional Northeastern Brazilian rhythms, the tracks establish an undeniably infectious, completely modern groove. The pioneering release served as an essential, foundational stepping stone toward the refined aesthetic of mid-century Brazilian popular music.
