Album Notes & Community Reviews
Returning to a more straightforward acoustic jazz setting, saxophonist and flautist Joe Farrell recruited a stellar quintet featuring Freddie Hubbard and George Cables for 'Sonic Text'. The record offers an engaging set of post-bop compositions, highlighting the ensemble's sophisticated harmonic interplay. It firmly establishes Farrell's fluid, lyrical improvisational skills beyond his fusion work.
