Album Notes & Community Reviews
Recorded live in a Masonic lodge to capture pristine natural acoustics, 'Body and Soul' continues Jackson's migration away from punky new wave toward sophisticated, jazz-inflected pop. The arrangements incorporate prominent horn sections, Latin rhythms, and intricate piano lines, culminating in the hit 'You Can't Get What You Want (Till You Know What You Want)'. The album cover itself acts as a direct homage to classic 1950s Blue Note jazz aesthetics.
