Album Notes & Community Reviews

Applying his famously unsentimental and tightly controlled baton to the pastoral warmth of Brahms's second symphony, Arturo Toscanini creates a remarkably dynamic, transparent interpretation. The NBC Symphony Orchestra executes the intricate string interactions and robust brass swells with immense clarity, avoiding the sluggish tempos often associated with the composer. It is a highly respected, muscular reading of a romantic masterpiece.
