Album Notes & Community Reviews

The clarinet virtuoso presents a compelling entry in his ambitious 'Roots and Folklore' suite, tracing the historical journey of African Americans. The avant-garde compositions balance dense, dissonant free jazz improvisation with structured, narrative-driven ensemble playing. The fiercely passionate and complex instrumental work cements Carter's legacy as a premier conceptualist in modern jazz.
