Album Notes & Community Reviews

Following the dissolution of The Czars and personal struggles with addiction, John Grant partnered with the folk-rock group Midlake to create a lush, painfully honest solo debut. 'Queen of Denmark' combines majestic 1970s soft-rock instrumentation with acerbic, deeply confessional lyrics detailing his experiences with depression and life as a gay man. The record garnered immense critical praise, acting as a triumphant personal renaissance for the songwriter.
