Album Notes & Community Reviews

The sophomore release from the fiercely independent songwriter and banjoist includes his definitive original recording of the massively successful 'Gentle on My Mind'. Hartford's uniquely conversational vocal delivery and unconventional lyricism push against traditional country boundaries, laying the critical groundwork for the impending progressive bluegrass and newgrass movements. The record firmly established his reputation as one of Nashville's most idiosyncratic innovators.
